Rice is Life- A Photo Contest The Asia Rice Foundation sponsored a photo contest both for amateur and professional photographers. Visualized in the theme "Rice is Life", the entries depicted all aspects of rice production from harvesting, marketing and consumption, and rice cultural heritage like beliefs, rituals and festivals. Of the 523 entries that were received, 31 were selected and exhibited at the LRI Galerie; Central Post Office Building in Manila; and at PhilRice in Maligaya, Nueva Ecija. Three prize winning entries "Harvesting Rice in Sagada, Mt. Province," by Dave Leopoldo, "Eating Time of Scavengers," by Revoli S. Cortes, and "Magtanim ay Di Biro," by Reynaldo C. Mondez, got the first, second and third prize. respectively. Winners were awarded during the Awards Ceremony held at PhilPost Building, 15 October 2004.
